Abimelech Fights Against Shechem

²² Abimelech ruled Israel for three years. ²³ Then God sent an evil spirit to make trouble between Abimelech and the ·leaders [leading citizens; lords] of Shechem so that they ·turned [revolted; acted treacherously] against him.
